G3LIV BI-POLE
Welcome to G3LIVs BI-POLE ANTENNAS.
Having operated for many years from holiday locations both in Europe and Asia.
The question on my mind was always what antenna to use.
Having regard that mine were Mini-Dxpeditions. No prior shipping of equipment to foreign shores.
Just the baggage allowance on either charted or shedule flights. 20Kg at best. And I had to have spare socks and underpants ( XYLs demands).
Varioius portabe antennas were tried over the years. But over the last 6 or so years I settled for the BI-POLE antennas shown here.
Nothing fancy, Not WONDER-MAGIC-SUPER or DOUBLE BAZOOKA WHATNOT Antennas.
But back to basics of the DIPOLE. Usually a dipole is only for one band. But its nice in portable or indeed permanent locations to have a choice of a minimum of 2 bands, both with good efficency. Various methods of strapping 2 elements together we tried.
By far my best results came from using 300 Ohm Ladder feeder for the main elements.
The added bonus is in usual circumstances an ATU is NOT REQUIRED.
SWR alway being < 2 :1 and in most circumstances < 1.5:1 over most of the selected band.
As with all antennas a good clear location is advised but in actual practice this is rarely possible to achieve.
And less so in holiday locations. I have used these BI-POLE antennas in FLAT TOP Dipole / INVERTED V / SLOPER Configaration. Always with very good results. However I must admit I think the INVERTED V Configaration is my favorite.
There will be 3 Models available.
The 2017 covering 20 mtrs and 17 mtrs. Aprox 33 feet.
The 2015 covering 20mtrs and 15 mtrs. Aprox 33 feet.
The 1712 covering 17 mtrs and 12 mtrs. Aprox 26 feet.
These are satisfactory for either portable or permanent locations.
The same two versions of my BI-POLE I have used for over 5 yrars in various locations.
I was a little concerned in LANGKAWI ISLAND AS-058 in Malaysia to find the the local monkeys had made one a handy short cut
between my 2 support trees. It did start to resonate at a slighty lower freq but stayed up there for the rest of the holidays.
They roll up quite small for location in baggage. Standard 50 ohm Coax gives a very acceptable match.
All models are complete with installation instructions and hints.
All models will be prices the same.
£41.00 plus £4.50 shipping in UK
Overseas postage at cost
I am more than pleased at how these have performed over the years.
And have no hesitation in recommending them for either Temporary holiday use or indeed permanent home QTH use.
